Yahweh

In this piece we used only the name. Yahweh is the name God gave Moses when Moses asked who he was, and we thought the name on its own was the whole statement. Nothing needed to be added to it.

We chose a handwritten script rather than a printed block letter because it's a spoken name, given personally, and we wanted it to look written by a person rather than typeset. We placed it at the center of the chest for the same reason. It's the most personal name of God, so it sits in the most personal place.

We chose embroidery over print because embroidery is permanent. It's stitched into the garment rather than sitting on top of it, which felt like the right way to carry a name that doesn't change.
